Sticky Ginger
Situated in the centre of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales village of Askrigg, Sticky Ginger supplies high quality homemade food using locally sourced produce.
Ideally placed for the attractions of Wensleydale and Swaledale, Askrigg is a haven for walkers, cyclists, day-trippers and holiday-makers. All are warmly welcomed by Julia and Richard for coffee, home-baked cakes, light lunch and afternoon tea. Freshly made sandwiches, homemade soup and takeaway meals are always available.
We are open every day from 10 until 4 except Sundays when we are closed. Any food (including takeaway evening meals) can be ordered and/or picked up outside these hours - please just ask in the shop, telephone or email us.
We also provide a full outside catering service, from small parties to large weddings.
Askrigg is an ancient market village situated on the northern side of Wensleydale and is overlooked by the peak of Addlebrough. Swaledale is easily accessible to the North; to the south is Bainbridge and a further 3 miles away is Semerwater, the largest natural lake in Yorkshire.
Askrigg was formerly the market town of Upper Wensleydale with a rich heritage of knitting and clock-making. More recently it has become known for its use in the filming of the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small, based on the James Herriot stories. Sticky Ginger is housed in the former village shop, often seen in the series. Cringley House, opposite Sticky Ginger, was used for outside views of the vet's surgery, Skeldale House, while the Kings Arms Hotel next door but one was used for scenes in the fictional Drovers Arms.
